Designed by international architects Tony Gwilliam and Marita Vidal, Villa Pantulan comprises four pavilions, an artist’s studio and a meditation/massage bale. All buildings have traditional alang alang roofs, wood and terrazzo floors. The five bedrooms, which sleep ten comfortably, have sliding louvered and glass doors that open up completely to allow the cool mountain air to circulate. All rooms have ceiling fans.
The villa is built around several water features including a reflecting pond, lily pond, swimming pool and a small bamboo forest waterfall.
The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped to allow Villa Pantulan’s two cooks to create memorable meals for your pleasure, offering both European and Balinese meals upon request. A range of fine Australian wines are on offer, as well as a selection of beers and soft drinks. Breakfast is included in your package. All other menus are priced according to the market.
The Lotus Pavilion is a two-story structure comprising sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. Upstairs, a large, romantic bedroom overlooks the rice fields and swimming pool giving a truly magnificent view each evening as the sun sets. The bathroom includes a waterfall and a koi fish pond next to the outdoor shower.
The Temple Garden Pavilion has two bedrooms, both decorated in shades of tropical green and deep sea blue. The lower bedroom extends out to the Temple garden, koi pond and orchid garden. The upper bedroom offers splendid views of the rice field and an overall view of the house and orchid garden below.
The bathroom on the ground floor is a striking bamboo and white pebble garden designed around the outdoor shower. Two porcelain bowls set on terrazzo counters and Italian lighting fixtures make this a stunning bathroom.
The Rice Field Pavilion has two bedrooms decorated in shades of Irish green, Balinese red and black. Each bedroom opens out onto a different view - on one side the Temple Garden and on the other, the rice fields.
At the north end of the swimming pool is the Artists studio, a two level pavilion designed by Tony Gwilliam. Built on water, it is an ideal place to take tea and admire the rice fields on your doorstep. A small table rises from the middle of the floor, Japanese style, enabling you to put your feet in the water on hot afternoons. Upstairs is an office space with a magnificent view of the mountains in the distance.
